YOU'RE INVITED!
Trying to create somewhat modern-traditional wedding invites. They would look good printed on textured-card paper and slightly debossed I think :)
ALPHABET MAZE
I had to create a typographic layout that included every letter of the alphabet! I chose a maze that actually DOES take you from A-Z if you go through it.
DON'T PANIC
I've been feeling rather high-strung and stressed-out lately, so I created a simple poster I'd kinda like to have put up in my room. (Please refer to next image)

QUARTERED HEART
I'm thinking of doing a series of somewhat abstract shape-based...shapes! (Inspired by an interesting site I stumbled across that used fancypants MATH algorithms to randomly spin hundreds of geometric shapes in different directions! I thought it looks quite cool.)
Also an exercise on breaking perfect symmetry because I feel I've been too safe with that. Sometimes a little randomness helps I guess!
HOME
I've been feeling very homesick lately, and I was thinking about that line and I thought, you know, it doesn't really do "home" justice. However, after some (failed) attempts at elaborating on it...I realized that yes, that's probably the best way to put it
VICTORIES/FAILURES
Just some wise words and things because yes, both your head AND your heart are capable of shattering - as depicted
SKYPE UI REDESIGN
An attempt at creating a prettier way to use Skype!
/For those of you who use a Skype that looks like this: http://goo.gl/oTnXV
HELLO, I'M RYAN!
Just playing around with a little basic "self" infographic.
VISUAL CULTURE
Playing with typography. Taken and slightly adapted from the Rencontres d'Arles!
1 MINUTE ON THE INTERNET
Read some fascinating statistics today - thought I'd share them in a nice way!
CRADLE TO GRAVE
Select a durable household product and analyze it. Then design a visual representation of its use of material resources and energy consumption in a manner that is visible and useable for consumers to see before purchase of these products.
I picked a hair-dryer, because I'd done a similar "energy-use" experiment with it already two years ago for an Environmental Science course! I had to back it up with a bit more research on the innards of a blow-dryer, polypropylene, mica and nichrome heating coils! Cool stuff :)
WATERY IMPLICATIONS
Water carries a host of connotations. Nations hoard the riches of their rivers. Irrigation canals branch across fields like veins of lifeblood. Water energizes, relieves, cleanses and feeds. Tourists travel miles to gawk at the Niagara Falls. Christians are baptized in water and Indian families sprinkle ashes through the waters of the Ganges. A twist of a valve brings limitless galons of water pouring through hoses, showers, sinks. In Africa, millions die for lack of clean water. A tsunami destroys cities and drowns thousands. Water rights create grudges, lawsuits and war.
GRAFFITTI
I think graffitti as a style, when done well and not vandalism on someone's car, does look quick cool!

SMILE
Just playing with shapes, cut-letters and fades. Inspired by the infinitely better (musical) artistry of the song "Nantes" by Beirut, a group a friend introduced to me awhile back
LOOM OF LIFE
Find a poem and then...build it!
Nails on a wood board and string. Lots of string.
IF I COULD ReDESIGN MAIL...
I've been a little fascinated by UIs and things. The way people interact with apps and programs. I think a LOT of software out there can be very much more streamlined and pretty to use! Personally, I'd like to use a Mail app that looks like this!
GONE
A Photoshop self-challenge to show to frailty of human life (whilst getting to know Photoshop brushes slightly better).
HELVETICANIMALS
A self challenge to create a set of icons in a particular theme using ONLY the font Helvetica (either Regular or Bold variants). I could rotate and resize the letters, but could not cut, skew or distort them in any way. I decided to do a set of animals
ALL THE RIGHT MOVES
Inspiration from a particular song by the band One Republic happened to be playing in the background...

ICONIFY SINGAPORE
A challenge to create an icon-set representing the country Singapore in a layout where the icons do not overlap!
MY NAME
Many people ask why I don't yet have a namecard. When I design things for people, it's usually pretty easy. When I design things for myself, it's /never/ good enough. The colors aren't right. The shapes aren't right. It doesn't represent me. It's not different. It's not cool. It's not special. It's not cute. It's not serious. It's just not.
THAT is why my namecard does not yet exist despite multiple drafts!
DRUGS KILL
Those pills can make a tangle of your life!

KISS THAT GRRRRL
Feeling rather unmotivated (too much stress lately!), but the song happened to be playing in the background.
Based off a song by Kate Nash.
"Design is in everything we make, but it’s also between those things. It's a mix of craft, science, storytelling, propaganda, and philosophy."
